No Such Thing as the News is a British television comedy series on BBC Two, which is a spin-off to the podcast No Such Thing As A Fish, produced and presented by the researchers behind the panel game QI.
In it each of the researchers, James Harkin, Andrew Hunter Murray, Anna Ptaszynski and Dan Schreiber (collectively known as "The QI Elves"), present their favourite facts related to the previous week's news. The programme is filmed at Up The Creek, in Greenwich, London.
The show was first announced in the podcast Episode 111: No Such Thing As Snappedy Chat.
Format[]
As a topical news-based spin-off to NSTAAF, the four hosts present their favourite fact from the week's news, then discuss related news and facts. They also read news stories sent in by viewers, which was referred to as "Special Correspondence" in the second series. At the end of each episode they highlight stories they did not have time to examine in greater depth.
The end of Series 1 featured sketches with BBC newsreader Jane Hill calling Schreiber 'Bernard', and the beginning of Series 2 featured Hill and Matthew Amroliwala reading obscure news stories.
