The US Election Special is the fifth episode of series two of No Such Thing As The News. It features presenters James Harkin, Andrew Hunter Murray, Anna Ptaszynski and Dan Schreiber, and was filmed at Up The Creek Comedy Club, in Greenwich, London.
Recorded the day after the 2016 US Presidential Election, this episode has also been named 'Series 2, Episode 5' on YouTube, although it was originally uploaded as 'US Election Special'.
Facts[]
During the programme the four hosts discuss stories surrounding the US Election. Unlike in other episodes, only one "official" fact is given.
- Last week, Donald Trump's campaign executive Steve Bannon's pants literally caught on fire as he was writing a speech for Trump. (Murray)
Extra Facts[]
At the end of the programme, the presenters each give one more fact they did not have time to discuss.
- The Chicago Cubs won the World Series. The last time they won was because of a mistake their opponents made called Merkle's Boner. (Ptaszynski)
- Vladimir Putin has just unveiled an enormous statue of a former Russian leader who happens, coincidentally, to be called Vladimir the Great.
- Andy Murray has just become the world number one ranked tennis player. The last Briton to hold this position would irritate his opponents when they made a good shot by shouting "very clever!" (Harkin)
Trivia[]
- This episode used a version of the theme tune which included the opening notes of the US national anthem. A similar mashup would be used on the 2019 US Tour.
